FRIENDS WITH FLAIR FRIDAY

This is an old library book that I altered for an art journal.  I used some DCWV pet paper and some paint for the cover.  I used gaffer tape for the fold attaching the spine to the cover.  The bird is made using a Sizzix die/embossing folder combo--love that thing!   I used acrylic paint on the bird and around the eges of the cover.   The sentiment in the upper left corner is enjoy.explore.believe by Donna Downey and the art
journal stamp is a frame and the words art and journal from the Moxie stamp set by Marah Johnson--perfect for an art journal!
This is a layout I did for a sketch by Sketch Inspiration.  I love her sketches and try to participate every week.  My LSS, Cat's Creations Scrapbooks, has challenged us to use the sketches each week and have 52 layouts at the end of the year!  The photos on this layout were from my son's trip to Canada and of some of his fellow students who were dizzy after playing on some playground equipment.  I thought the Anthem collection by Sassafrass Lass was perfect for these playful photos.  The background cloud paper is by Bella Blvd. I believe.  I used the hot air balloon from the Adventurous itty bitty, although mine actually came from the kit of the month.  So glad they are reissuing some of the stamps from older kits of the month so that if we missed a super cool stamp we can pick it up.

This is a canvas frame that I altered to hold a photo of my husband and a friend of ours who recently passed away.  It was taken at his 93rd birthday dinner and I was so glad we made the trip for that dinner since he passed away a few months later.  I used some paper from the DCWV World Traveler stack I purchased recently while out of town.  I used the cancelled postage on the upper left corner and then the quote "Some people we never forget because our lives have been forever changed by them"--perfect for this photo.  I used an expresso Paint Daubber by Ranger to color the edges of the frame and then brushed it around on top to further distress this frame.  I gave this to my husband to remember this special man.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and I hope you have enjoyed the projects I did.  Check out Unity Stamp blog where you will find links to everyone's blog and all of their wonderful projects.  Don't forget to comment for a chance to win some wonderful Unity stamps.    I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
